DISCLAIMER: The data described below have been collected by automated equipment and are furnished "as is". DNR makes no warranties (including no warranties as to merchantability or fitness) either expressed or implied with respect to the data or their fitness for any specific application.

This page is under construction. Comments and suggestions for improving our retrieval system are desired.

Try our new data query page: pq

Note: We are no longer maintaining this version of the query interface. As a result, some types of corrections may not be applied and the data retrieved may not reflect the corrected values. We highly recommend that you use the new data query page instead.

This page lets you retrieve data from the DNR database in a wide variety of formats and combinations. Because there are many options, this page is broken up into three sections:

Basic Query Parameters enter desired stations, series, dates, and output format
Graph Options customize graph layout and construction
ASCII Options customize ASCII data formatting

Most users can simply fill in the "Basic Query Parameters" section and ignore the other sections. Note that the system is unable to provide a lot of diagnostics; if you make a request and receive an empty graph or empty data set, it's probable that the data you're requesting are non-existent, unavailable, or can't be formatted the way you requested. For suggestions, questions, or more information contact dnr-info@lighthouse.tamucc.edu.

Basic Query Parameters
Stations:
Select the station(s) of interest from the selection box. Stations are grouped by function and listed alpabetically by name within each group. If you already know the identifiers for the station(s) you want, you can enter them directly into the text box. Click for more information on DNR stations and locations. here.
Series: Select the data series you'd like to view. Note that not all data series are available for all stations. If you already know the abbreviations for the series you want, you can enter them directly into the text box. Click for more information on data series.
Dates: Enter the range of dates for which you want data. In general you can enter dates in the form mm/dd/yyyy-mm/dd/yyyy, but other specifications such as yesterday, now,-7d, and mm/yyyy also work. Click for more information on date ranges.
Format: Graph ASCII Select your desired output format.

PostScript
Text Rows
Columns
Units: Metric
English
DNR Select your desired output units. DNR units indicates the default unit of measurement as stored in our database (always an integer value). Click for more information on units.
Elevation: What do you want vertical elevations (e.g., water level) referenced to? The default is station datum, which is an arbitrary zero established at each station. Other elevations may not be available for the station(s) you've requested. Click for more information on elevations.
Date Format:
How do you want dates to be displayed? The default gives reasonable output for most requests, but if you need more control you can either select a predefined format from the top selection box or enter your own strftime specification in the bottom box. Click for more information on date formats.
Time Zone: Select the time zone for output dates/times.
SSList: This is an "advanced" method to select specific combinations of stations and series. You can safely leave this field alone. Click for more information on sslist.

Graph Options
Labels: Enter the values for various labels on graph axes. If you leave any of these blank, a reasonable default is usually chosen.
Title
X-axis
Y-axis
Y2-axis
Timestamp
Ranges: Enter the range of plot values for the y and y2 axes. Ranges should be in the form [min:max]. Either min or max can be set to '*' to indicate the minimum or maximum value of the data being plotted.
Y-axis
Y2-axis
Borders: Select where to plot axis borders.
GIF Size: Enter the desired size in pixels for a GIF graph.
Orientation:
(PostScript only)
Landscape
Portrait
Select whether your want your graph in landscape (11"x8.5") or portrait (8.5"x11") format.

ASCII Options
Field Width: Enter the minimum width of output data fields. All fields are always output with at least one space between them.
Missing Data: Enter the codes you want for missing (NA) and removed (RM) data values. The defaults are NA and RM, but you can put any string you want for either (or both).
NA
RM
Remarks: Suppress all comments
Suppress disclaimer text
Select these boxes to turn off the comment and/or disclaimer text that appears in the output.
Row Size:
(Text rows only)
Select the maximum number of data values per row of output. Selecting 1 here guarantees that each data value is on a line by itself. Other useful values are 5 (half-hourly) and 10 (hourly).
Interval:
(Columns only)
For column-style output, select the time interval to use for each row of output. The value reported on each row is the value recorded at the time indicated on the row.
