Station Information

To reach tidal bench marks, from the U.S. Post Office in Port Aransas go southwest on Allister Street for 0.1 mile to the junction of Texas Highway 361. Turn right unto Hwy. 361 and go 1.0 mile to junction with Port Street on the left, near the intersection of Hwy 361 and Cotter Ave. Turn unto Port Street and go 0.3 mile to entrance gate of the "Marine Science Institute-Fisheries and Mariculture Laboratory" operated by the University of Texas in cooperation with Texas A&M University. After entering thru the gate make an immediate left turn in front of teh main Administration Building and then make a right turn and follow the street along the west side of the Administration Building for 0.1 mile to the concrete bulkhead and pier. The Tide Station is located 26 feet from end of concrete pier. Tide Staff is also fastened to concrete pier, 101 feet seaward from bulkhead.

AGENCY:
The bench mark is a brass disk set on top of concrete loading-unloading dock bulk-head, 8.6 feet south of its north end, 20 feet east of the east curb of the street. The dock is on the west side of the Administration Building.

AGENCY:
The bench mark is a brass disk set flush with ground crimped to a stainless steel rod driven 48 feet to refusal, and encased in a 6 inch PVC pipe and concrete kickblock. It is located near the west exit gate on the west side of the street behind the curb and 18 feet north of the fence. It is south of a small parking area.

The bench mark is a brass disk set on top of concrete bulkhead, 9.5 feet west of the inshore end of concrete pier to which the gauge and staff are fastened to.

The bench mark is a brass survey disc crimped to a stainless steel rod driven 45' to refusal and encased in a 6" PVC pipe and concrete kickblock. The mark is 24.2 m NE of the NW corner of the hatchery building slab, 5.4 m W of the fifth saltwater well from the west end of a row of eight wells running parallel to the bulkhead, 3.0 m N of the SE corner of a concrete slab surrounding a storm drain on the inside of the bulkhead, 1.5 m from the outside face of the bulkhead, and is 3.0 cm above the surface of the ground.

The bench mark is a brass disk set flush with ground crimped to a stainless steel rod driven 44 feet to refusal, and encased in a 6-inch PVC pipe and concrete kickblock. It is located on the west side of the street, 60 feet southeast of the southeast corner of the A&M University building and about 3 feet from the curb.4-27-94 Now in concrete driveway.
