Wind and Sports

The central coast of Texas has a well defined sea breeze that is generated by differential heating of the earth and the adjacent Gulf and Bay waters. Many sports enthusiasts flock to the Corpus Christi area to take advantage of the highly predictable increases in wind speed that occur in the afternoon. In addition, the seasonal (spring and fall) strong winds assoicated with frontal approach generate even stronger sea breezes prior to the strong winds as the fronts move off the coast.
