We sometimes have undergraduate and/or graduate research assistantship positions. The positions can be related to my work or to some of my DNR colleagues work including IT positions, field work positions etc.

Students in my lab typically gather, visualize and analyze atmospheric and coastal data sets. Projects can consist of helping to optimize and implement models such as water level prediction models often based on artificial intelligence techniques. The research is closely related to the operation of the Texas Coastal Ocean Observation Network and students are encouraged to participate to the activities related to the operation and maintenance of the network. Students should be interested in coastal processes and have experience or interest in using computer softwares such as Matlab and Hydrodynamic codes.

Presently (Fall 2008/Spring 2009) looking for graduate student in Math, ESCI or CMSS to work with the Hydrodynamic code FVCOM.

Also looking for undergraduate research assistants with Matlab experience and some mathematics background (cal I preferably cal II) to work on a project related to water levels along the Florida coast.
