Position Description

The Division of Nearshore Research (DNR) is looking for a student to maintain its existing infrastructure of PCs running Microsoft Windows. This student will be responsible for:

  • Installing the Windows operating system onto desktops and laptops
  • Keeping Windows machines up-to-date with the latest operating system (OS) and application patches
  • Detecting and removing viruses and spyware from computers as needed
  • Troubleshooting operating system, networking, and application issues
  • Consulting with DNR personnel concerning purchases of new PCs or PC-related hardware
  • Installing Windows applications
  • Keeping track of the software licenses for Windows applications that run on Windows
  • Keeping track of the physical media that contains the software applications that run on Windows (disks, CDs, etc)
  • Researching software alternatives

In essence, keeping the Windows users happy.

Required skills/knowledge

  • Self-motivated worker
