Setup Procedure for Raven CDMA IP Modem

Sierra Wireless Raven 1x support page (Sprint)

This setup procedure assumes you are starting from factory default settings.

Part 1 - Determine IP address

  1. Connect using 115200 bps, 8 data bits, No parity, 1 stop bit, and hardware flow control
  2. Issue the command: AT*NETIP?

Part 2 - Configure modem with AT Command Interpreter

  1. Use a telnet program to connect to the IP address determined in step 1 on port 2332
  2. The default password is: 12345
  3. Issue the following commands:
    1. ATS23=9600,8N1 (set baud rate to match cube)
    2. AT\Q 0 (set serial port flow control to none)
    3. ATS0=1 (put modem in into TCP Auto Answer mode)
    4. AT*DPORT=dport (set the device port to dport (0-65535))
    5. AT\ACEPW=pass (set the AT Command Interpreter password to pass)
    6. AT&W (save configuration)
    7. ATZ (reset)

Part 3 - Connect to modem from remote machine

  1. Connect modem to cube serial port
  2. Telnet to modem on port $dport and check to see if you get a prompt and can issue commands (note: telnet program will probably not automatically enter character mode)

Notes: When tested, draws approx 50 mA when idle up to 200 mA when active. Specifications say 50 mA to 250 mA.
