Potential Interview Questions

Potential questions for applicants/interviewees or to capture potential applicants' interest:

  • What program(s) have you written for your own personal enjoyment/education [not required by school or work]? Why?

  • What is the most antiquated/unusual computer system you've worked on/played with? What was the goal (if any)?

  • Tell me about a challenging/frustrating troubleshooting/debugging experience you've had [successful/positive outcome not required]. What happened? How did you feel about it then? How do you feel about it now?

  • Describe a personal experience where you taught someone. Doesn't need to be in a school environment. It could be teaching a younger sibling how to tie their shoes, a friend how to play a sport/video game, etc. What do you think about that experience? How did you feel when you were teaching them? What about now?

  • Why did you decide to study [whatever you're studying]?

  • Describe a hobby or activity you're passionate about.
