Monday, 1 June 2009:

13:42 <@dbcooper> Ok. I'm still writing up my meeting dump. Who's here?
13:43 <@dbcooper> Missing Cody again. :\
13:43 <@dbcooper> http://lighthouse.tamucc.edu/DNRNotes/ITMeetingTemplate
13:43 < rysan> I think I need to setup a system that sends everyone a text message and calls everyone's phones at 1:30
13:43 < rysan> and says "meeting now"
13:43 <@dbcooper> Okay. I'm calling this meeting to order. Scott may be preoccupied b/c his family is in his office.
13:44 < rysan> my family is in one of my two apartments :/
13:44 <@dbcooper> But there not in NRC 3400.
13:44 <@dbcooper> they're
13:44 <@dbcooper> Anyway, blah blah blah. CHase, you're up.
13:44 < cashcraft> I think it would be a little too crowded with anymore people in here
13:44 <@dbcooper> *Chase
13:44 < cashcraft> -----------------------Begin Transmission-------------------------------
13:44 < cashcraft> 1. How many hours can you work this week? (this one is really only for the students)
13:44 < cashcraft> --20 hours.
13:44 < cashcraft> 2. What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
13:44 < cashcraft> --Traced through ncep-degribbit and changed all the directory locations to match my setup.

13:44 < cashcraft> --The documentation on the NCEP website and degrib software documentation.
13:44 < cashcraft> 4. Do you need some face time with one of IT3D? (or if you are IT3D, do you need any face time with a student?)
13:44 < cashcraft> --Yes, I need to meet with Niall as I have a few more bumps I hit with this code that I could use some help with.
13:44 < cashcraft> --(how does 1 p.m. tomorrow sound?)
13:44 < cashcraft> 5. Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
13:44 < cashcraft> Nothing at the moment.
13:45 < cashcraft> -------------------------End Transmission--------------------------------
13:46 <@dbcooper> cashcraft: Please setup a time via Google Calendar for us to meet.
13:46 <@dbcooper> Tuesday is preferrable (early afternoon).
13:46 < cashcraft> dbcooper: sounds good
13:47 <@dbcooper> Cody is absent. Ryan?
13:47 < rysan> 1. How many hours can you work this week?
13:47 < rysan> ==>Depends on my new 'status' I suppose. 20-40.
13:47 < rysan> 2. What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
13:47 < rysan> ==>None! I was on vacation. Well that's a lie, I played with bad values more.

13:47 < rysan> 3. Did you run into anything that's stopping you from making progress?
13:47 < rysan> ==>N/A

13:47 < rysan> 5. Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
13:47 < rysan> ==>I'm back in town. I'm moving into a new apartment, which sucks. I didn't
13:47 < rysan> ==>get to take summer school cause my GRE scores didn't come in in time, so
13:47 < rysan> ==>I'm pretty much free to work this summer as needed/as I can. We need to
13:47 < rysan> ==>further discuss what was emailed about all that jazz.
13:47 < rysan> ==========EOL=============
13:50 <@dbcooper> rysan: Gina is the best contact for employment/insurance concerns. We (IT3D) are available as needed/desired. I'd ask Gina if/when she can meet and if she wants any of us to be present.
13:51 <@dbcooper> Josh?
13:51 < jrod> .) ¿Cuántas horas puede trabajar esta semana?
13:51 < jrod>   18 horas (comenzó las clases de verano)
13:51 < jrod> 2.)
13:51 < jrod> 5.) ¿Hay algo más que deberíamos conocer? Todo nuevo negocio?
13:51 < jrod> No Señores!
13:54 <@dbcooper> I've e-mailed and called Christina Gonzalez to double-check the product ID for Windows 2003 Server. She hasn't responded to me yet. I've tried to get in touch w/ her multiple times.
13:54 <@dbcooper> hamez?
13:54 <@dbcooper> hamez: ping
13:55 <@hamez> pong
13:55 <@dbcooper> You're up.
13:55 <@dbcooper> Want me to come back to you?
13:56 <@hamez> ?
13:56 <@dbcooper> Meeting dump?
13:56 <@PerlJam> It's not going to make much difference :)
13:56 <@hamez> oh, sorry, we forgot about the meeting
13:56 <@dbcooper> Gotcha.
13:56 <@hamez> yeah, come back to me
13:57 <@dbcooper> 1. How many hours can you work this week?
13:57 <@dbcooper> A: N/A
13:57 <@dbcooper> 2. What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
13:57 <@dbcooper> A: Worked w/ Chris (Cyber Defense student) on Tuesday and on IRC throughout the week (hydra, virtualbox). Lots of Blucher and IT meetings. Improvement Group 3 writeup. nnwl positive reltime fixes. Lots of small meetings/questions with various DNR personnel.
13:57 <@dbcooper> 3. Did you run into anything that's stopping you from making progress?
13:57 <@dbcooper> A: Nothing unusual.
13:57 <@dbcooper> 4. Do you need some face time with one of IT3D? (or if you are IT3D, do you need any face time with a student?)
13:57 <@dbcooper> A: We have planned on meeting together most of the week so as to make more progress on software development.
13:57 <@dbcooper> 5. Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
13:57 <@dbcooper> A: Chris on Tuesday AM. I'm on call this week. I assume DNR users will still come to me w/ questions and IT issues. This will impact my productivity.
13:57 <@dbcooper> EOL
13:57 <@dbcooper> Scott?
13:58 <@PerlJam> 2. Got fastcgi working with catalyst
13:58 <@PerlJam> 3. nope
13:58 <@PerlJam> 4. Ryan and I still need to get together
13:58 <@PerlJam> 5. Not sure.
13:59 * PerlJam needs a personal recorder that's always on so that he can remember what he did last week :)
13:59 <@hamez> hamez?
13:59 <@hamez> 2. Submitted my abstract for the conference in Mexico. Can't remember what else I did last week.
13:59 <@hamez> 3. Nope
13:59 <@hamez> 4. Sure.
13:59 <@hamez> 5. Nope.
13:59 <@hamez> oh yeah, lots of meetings for #2
13:59 <@dbcooper> Insightful.
13:59 <@PerlJam> oh, addendum to my #5. I won't be here next week.
14:00 <@dbcooper> PerlJam: 6/7 - 6/13?
14:00 <@PerlJam> something like that.
14:00 <@dbcooper> Will you be back the following Monday?
14:00 <@PerlJam> oh yes. definitely.
14:01 <@PerlJam> There's a day of travel each way to and from my parents house where I will be incommunicado.
14:01 <@PerlJam> But otherwise I'll have my laptop and cell phone.
14:01 <@hamez> addendum to #5, I won't be here 6/22-6/30 (Mexico Conference)
14:02 <@dbcooper> hamez: You're on call 6/29-7/3. I'm on call the week prior. Maybe Scott will take that week?
14:02 <@PerlJam> sure.
14:05 <@dbcooper> Recap: Chase is working on ncep-*, Ryan is working on spike detection/removal, Josh is stalled on GIS server (Win2k3). Cody is [supposedly] working on CBI projector. What am I missing?
14:06 <@PerlJam> Cake day is this friday
14:06 <@PerlJam> (students are welcome)
14:07 <@dbcooper> Josh, what else are you working on?
14:07 < rysan> i'm also moving into a new apartment, but hope to be done by today or tomorrow. Should be in most of the rest of the week
14:08 < jrod> umm I can continue on the Report Survey
14:09 < jrod> also I believe that Greg Hauger wanted to meet with me this week for the database ??? no idea what over however
14:09 <@dbcooper> Greg mentioned something to me last week about meeting w/ you but I wasn't sure (he didn't sound certain either) what it was in regards to.
14:10 <@dbcooper> Something like Stacey pinged him about a project that he was supposed to have you do or somesuch.
14:10 < jrod> He said a status on the database and GIS Server but no work has been given to me regards to what i am suppose to be doing I will ping him on his request
14:11 <@dbcooper> Yeah. I think that Stacey didn't provide Greg w/ much/any information on what needed to be done either.
14:11 < jrod> " up to date on where we stand with the GIS server and the database. " quote from email recieved from him
14:11 <@dbcooper> jrod: From Greg?
14:11 < jrod> yes
14:12 <@dbcooper> As in Greg is up to date on where things stand? Or he wants to be updated on where things stand?
14:12 <@dbcooper> Does anyone actually know what is going on w/ that project and what needs to be done?
14:14 < jrod> heres the actual body of the email "We need to arrange a meeting for next week to get everyone up to date on where we stand with the GIS server and the database.  When are you available?" I dont think anyone knows whats going on lol. Last time i spoke with them they were going to decide to either use ArcGIS or Google Maps never got a reply with decision....
14:16 <@dbcooper> Who sent out the e-mail? Greg or Stacey?
14:16 < jrod> That email was sent to me only by Greg...
14:17 <@dbcooper> Ok. I think I suggested that there be a full-time IT person in the meeting, just so we have some idea as to what is going on.
14:18 < jrod> okay sounds good to me....i just hope im not suppose to be doing anything that i was unaware about
14:18 <@dbcooper> Also, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cKU1NZRTxQ
14:19 <@dbcooper> jrod: I don't think you're culpable.
14:19 < jrod> okay...
14:19 <@dbcooper> Anyway, given Scott's proximity to Stacey and his involvement in other GIS-sy projects, I think he'd be the ideal person to attend the meeting. :)
14:20 < jrod> ill let him know about any movements
14:20 <@dbcooper> I think Stacey is paying 1/3 of his salary too.
14:20 <@dbcooper> Ok. Does anyone have any new business/questions/unresolved issues/warnings to bring up?
14:21 < cashcraft> not I
14:22 <@dbcooper> Going once...
14:22 < rysan> nein
14:22 < jrod> nope
14:23 <@dbcooper> Okay. The meeting is adjourned. Thanks for showing up, guys.

13:38 < cashcraft> T minus 5, roger roger
13:46 <@dbcooper> Crap.
13:47 <@dbcooper> Impromptu meeting w/ Rick Smith.
13:47 < rysan> that's alright
13:49 <@dbcooper> I call the meeting to order. Chase, you go first.
13:49 < cashcraft> 1) How many hours can you work this week? (this one is really only for the students)
13:49 < cashcraft> ---20 hours
13:49 < cashcraft> 2)What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
13:49 < cashcraft> ---Discussed the future of NCEP with Niall in depth and got a much better understanding of how it is all going to work.
13:49 < cashcraft> ---Determined the min/max Lat/Lon locations for each tile (hopefully correct)
13:49 < cashcraft> ---Helped Phillipe with some wikki links and created a wikki page with helpful NCEP and DEGRIB links
13:49 < cashcraft> 3)Did you run into anything that's stopping you from making progress?
13:49 < cashcraft> ---Not at this point
13:49 < cashcraft> 4)Do you need some face time with one of IT3D? (or if you are IT3D, do you need any face time with a student?)
13:49 < cashcraft> ---Not at this point
13:49 < cashcraft> 5)Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
13:49 < cashcraft> This week I will be working on the script which will take a configuration file of Lat/Lon locations and determine to which tile they belong.
13:50 < cashcraft> ---------------End Transmission---------------

13:53 < cbrown51> End Of Report
13:53 <@dbcooper> rysan: Your turn.
13:53 < rysan> 1. 30~
13:53 < rysan> 2. A fair amount. Scott and I added a fix to the spike detection. Then it broke. So i traced it back and have tried something else, which is still in testing. All this is to implement bad value support to the spike detection, making it more robust.
13:53 < rysan> 3. Not really
13:53 < rysan> 4. Scott is out this week, so I'm flying solo.
13:54 < rysan> 5. I got Gina synced with her google calendar. Currently though she hasn't recieved the share email for the CBI calendar. Once she gets it and accepts, I think it'll automatically sync and work flawlessly. Also, Phillipe wants to get a copy of Outlook installed on his new machine downstairs so he can take the load off his web-email. He was apparently kicked out of his office, and his web-email is over quota so he needs a hard copy to archieve so he can do em
13:54 <@dbcooper> rysan: Line 5 was cut off, what else is there?
13:55 < rysan> archieve so he can do email stuff again. Niall may want to talk to him more on this, or Cody may want to work on getting Office on there for him.
13:55 <@dbcooper> Josh? Is Josh around?
13:56 <@dbcooper> Skipping Josh. hamez: your turn.
13:56 < cashcraft> he was in class this morning but he said he had to go home to take care of some stuff, guess he isn't going to make it back
13:56 <@hamez> <report>
13:56 <@hamez> 2. Projector installation, hacking on nesscan, other stuff (can't remember)
13:56 <@hamez> 3. Bronzed cowbird
13:56 <@hamez> 4. Cody, to talk about getting data from USGS
13:56 <@hamez> 5. Not that I can think of
13:56 <@hamez> </report>
13:57 <@dbcooper> 1. How many hours can you work this week?
13:57 <@dbcooper> A: N/A
13:57 <@dbcooper> 2. What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
13:57 <@dbcooper> A: Worked w/ Chris (Cyber Defense student) on Tuesday (hydra, virtualbox, DHCP, scanning). Discussed NCEP downloading, processing w/ Chase. Redundant nwstag labels discussion/peer coding w/ James. Catalyst stuff--tutorial, hackathon. User issues.
13:57 <@dbcooper> A: James, I suppose.
13:57 <@dbcooper> 5. Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
13:57 <@dbcooper> A: I'll be in a bit late on Thursday (11AM). Nothing big on my radar at the moment.
13:57 <@dbcooper> EOL
13:57 <@dbcooper> Scott is on vacation.
13:59 < cashcraft> so are we having wild parties in his office every day then?
13:59 <@dbcooper> Yes.
14:00 < cashcraft> sweet!
14:02 <@dbcooper> New items: need to backup old ptardl, lfredl hard drives and surplus/reformat machines. Take the crap in NRC 3414 to surplus (check w/ Sara first). I'd like to setup a test data logger on one of the old ptardl/lfredl machines, but it is not a high priority.
14:04 < cbrown51> dbcooper: where would you like the backups to be stored?
14:05 <@dbcooper> Rizzo forwarded an e-mail requesting a modification to NOAA's TCOON station priorities, an issue w/ NESDIS messages. From nimble, automated data download.
14:05 <@dbcooper> cbrown51: Eventually, on lighthouse.
14:06 <@hamez> NESDIS messages issue is fixed
14:06 <@dbcooper> Initially we can backup the collected data onto any linux-based system. I.e., use the USB -> hard disk adapter, mount the drive and copy the data off it. A good student task for anyone who is interested in learning about Linux command line stuff.
14:07 <@hamez> nimble.cbi.tamucc.edu is not resolvable
14:07 <@hamez> it is an alias for meridian2, which seems to no longer exist in dns
14:07 < cbrown51> dbcooper: lol I can handle that
14:09 <@dbcooper> cbrown51: Alright. You're it.
14:11 <@dbcooper> rysan: What are you working on this week?
14:12 < rysan> dbcooper: I figured I'd try to fix what Scott and I broke on Thursday and then make bad value support work
14:12 < rysan> dbcooper: did you have something else in mind?
14:13 <@dbcooper> rysan: No, that's fine. I just want to have an idea what everyone is working on (or planning to) this week and I don't see it directly addressed in the template questions.
14:14 <@dbcooper> cbrown51: What are you working on this week?
14:14 < rysan> dbcooper: should it be added as a template question?
14:14 < cashcraft> dbcooper: would you like there to be a question added to the template since that bugs me as well? lol I have it open and can do it now
14:15 <@dbcooper> rysan: I just added it.
14:15 <@dbcooper> http://lighthouse.tamucc.edu/DNRNotes/ITMeetingTemplate
14:15 < cashcraft> nice
14:15 <@dbcooper> #6
14:15 <@dbcooper> But first, let me add the task to nimble, estimate the completion time, assign the task to a student and then follow up with that student to make sure it is completed.
14:16 < cbrown51> Format all junk hard drives
14:16 < cbrown51> Meet with James for Data retrieval
14:16 < cbrown51> Backup ptardl, lfredl onto my desktop computer
14:16 < cbrown51> Work and finish Average Hits
14:16 < cashcraft> It's always good to follow standard procedures
14:16 < cbrown51> and anything else that comes up
14:16 <@dbcooper> cbrown51: Junk hard drives is a low-priority task. I just bother you about it frequently. :)
14:17 < cbrown51> dbcooper: roger that I'll adjust my to do list then
14:18 <@hamez> I would like to get all the students familiar with nimble
14:18 <@dbcooper> cbrown51: cashcraft: rysan: Do you all have 10-15 minutes to discuss nimble?
14:19 < rysan> Jawohl mein Herr
14:19 < cashcraft> dbcooper: I don't know.. that kinda cuts into my email time
14:19 <@dbcooper> Ok. Meeting adjourned.

Monday, 15 June 2009:

13:37 < jrod_361> pinging
13:37 < hamez> ponging
13:52 < rysan> scott is here with me, Cody is at his desk, and Niall is eating lunch
13:52 < rysan> we'll get stuff going shortly, I'm sure

14:05 * rysan nods
14:05 < PerlJam> excellent.
14:05 < PerlJam> cashcraft: you're up.
14:05 < cashcraft> 1) How many hours can you work this week?

14:05 < cashcraft> 2) What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?

14:05 < cashcraft> --negative
14:05 < cashcraft> 4)Do you need some face time with one of the IT3D?
14:05 < cashcraft> --negative
14:05 < cashcraft> 5)Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
14:05 < cashcraft> --not at this point
14:05 < cashcraft> 6)What do you plan to work on this week?
14:05 < cashcraft> --finishing up ncep-pntFileGen and beginning work on the new ncep-degribbit
14:06 < PerlJam> cbrown5 ?
14:06 * dbcooper puts on his robe and wizard hat.
14:06 < cbrown5> 1. How many hours can you work this week? (this one is really only for the students)
14:06 < cbrown5> 30-40 hours
14:06 < cbrown5> 2. What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
14:06 < cbrown5> I have wiped alot of the hard drives, I met with James I have started looking at
14:06 < cbrown5> how to autoretieve the data from USGS and began writing some code, I looked at
14:06 < cbrown5> average hits but never made any changes.
14:06 < cbrown5> 3. Did you run into anything that's stopping you from making progress?
14:06 < cbrown5> No
14:06 < cbrown5> 4. Do you need some face time with one of IT3D? (or if you are IT3D, do you need any face time with a student?)
14:06 < cbrown5> I had set up a metting today for average hits but I havent made much improvements so I'd like to reschedule that for sometime next week. I think me and james are going to meet again to talk more about the data retrieval project.
14:06 < cbrown5> 5. Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
14:06 < cbrown5> nope
14:06 < cbrown5> 6. What do you plan to work on this week?
14:06 < cbrown5> Just finish what I started last week
14:07 < PerlJam> rysan ?
14:07 < rysan> 1. How many hours can you work this week? (this one is really only for the students)
14:07 < rysan> 30~
14:07 < rysan> 2. What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
14:07 < rysan> A lot. I spent some time working on issues with the spike program, but then focused
14:07 < rysan> most of my time and efforts on the testing script, so that I could better facilitate the
14:07 < rysan> testing of the spike program.
14:07 < rysan> 3. Did you run into anything that's stopping you from making progress?
14:07 < rysan> A few kinks here and there with DSpec stuff and how to move things around, but I'll discuss
14:07 < rysan> that more with Scott.
14:07 < rysan> 4. Do you need some face time with one of IT3D? (or if you are IT3D, do you need any face time with a student?)
14:08 < rysan> Yes, with Scott.
14:08 < rysan> 5. Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
14:08 < rysan> Not that I can readily think of.
14:08 < rysan> 6. What do you plan to work on this week?
14:08 < rysan> Finish my testing script for spikes and start debugging/testing my spike script to find the
14:08 < rysan> odd kinks for special cases. (The script messes up on a few special cases that we hadn't
14:08 < rysan> caught originally, those are going to be accounted for by the test script).
14:08 < rysan> =====================END========================
14:08 * rysan points out that he's been meeting with Scott this morning already so some of that doesn't apply anymore.
14:09 < PerlJam> jrod_361 ?
14:09 < jrod_361> How many hours can you work this week?
14:09 < jrod_361> 20
14:09 < jrod_361> What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
14:09 < jrod_361> not much :( been busy with summer school
14:09 < jrod_361> Did you run into anything that's stopping you from making progress?
14:09 < jrod_361> no
14:09 < jrod_361> Do you need some face time with one of IT3D?Any new business? What do you plan to work on this week?
14:09 < jrod_361> Didre said that the Order came in? If so I'm going to knock out the Arc GIS Server this week! I will be in all day tomorrow since my hard class was canceled for the week! I plan to get a lot done this week...(YAY time to catch up :( )
14:10 < PerlJam> jrod_361: The order has been placed, but not shipped.
14:11 < PerlJam> hamez ?
14:11 < hamez> 2. Added some stuff to nimble, met w/ NWS peeps, improved rtas, field crew support, met with Cody to get him started on USGS poll
14:11 < hamez> 3. Usual distractions
14:11 < hamez> 4. Want to work w/ Cody more
14:11 < hamez> 5. Not that I can think of
14:11 < hamez> 6. Integrating pharosweb w/ the new pharos, data replication between lighthouse-class machines
14:11 < hamez> fin
14:11 < PerlJam> dbcooper ?
14:11 <@dbcooper> 1. How many hours can you work this week?
14:11 <@dbcooper> A: N/A
14:11 <@dbcooper> 2. What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
14:11 <@dbcooper> A: Meeting w/ NWS, Deidre's laptop, MS Outlook wrangling, Catalyst reading/tutorial, software licenses. Crap, mostly.
14:11 <@dbcooper> 3. Did you run into anything that's stopping you from making progress?
14:11 <@dbcooper> A: Distractions? I blame myself more than any outside influence.
14:11 <@dbcooper> 4. Do you need some face time with one of IT3D? (or if you are IT3D, do you need any face time with a student?)
14:11 <@dbcooper> A: JD and Scott, this week's agenda?
14:11 <@dbcooper> 5. Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
14:11 <@dbcooper> A: Chris will be here tomorrow morning (9AM-1PM). Cody code review today from 3
14:11 <@dbcooper> -4PM. I think we should have another lightning talk session soon. Also, Ryan's birthday is today. We should celebrate or something sometime this week.
14:11 <@dbcooper> EOL
14:12 < PerlJam> PerlJam ?
14:12 < PerlJam> 2. none; I was on vacation (and I don't really remember the week before).
14:12 < PerlJam> 3. nope.
14:12 < PerlJam> 4. Yes, I'd like to brainstorm with it3d about changes to Pharos
14:12 < PerlJam> 5. not that I can think of.
14:12 < PerlJam> 6. Figure out (with it3d's help) how to get lighthouse replication going and how to start migrating the old pharos software to the new catalyst-based pharos.
14:12 < PerlJam> END OF LINE.
14:12 < rysan> dbcooper: what do you mean by celebrate o.O
14:13 <@dbcooper> hookers, coke.

14:13 <@dbcooper> I scared off Chase, apparently.
14:13 < PerlJam> dbcooper: vegas trip? :)
14:13 < rysan> he's on his way, he thought you meant righ tnow
14:13 <@dbcooper> PerlJam: Excellent idea. Think Gina can swing it w/ travel funds?
14:13 <@dbcooper> rysan: Good one.

14:14 < jrod_361> Also i forgot to mention that the arc gis cds are with Dr. stacey!
14:14 < rysan> tell her we're staying at the Beliagio in the presidential suite
14:14 < hamez> I've got a ticket to Mexico for a conference that was canceled
14:14 <@dbcooper> rysan: s/uite/uites/; ftfy
14:14 * dbcooper assumes there is more than one "presidential suite".
14:15 < PerlJam> Anyway, any other important, work-related stuff we should be discussing?
14:15 < rysan> dbcooper: one would think
14:15 < rysan> PerlJam: you mean hookers and coke for my birthday aren't work related?
14:15 <@dbcooper> hamez: Mexico.distanceTo(Vegas) > CorpusChristi.distanceTo(Vegas);
14:15 < PerlJam> rysan: that would be a bit of a stretch and we're already in the dog house with the rest of the campus :)
14:15 <@dbcooper> // for most of Mexico, that is.
14:15 < hamez> rysan: only if you use your p-card
14:16 < rysan> hamez: oh I plan on it
14:16 < rysan> hamez: where else will I get the 10 grand for the craps table?
14:16 <@dbcooper> D'oh. I've derailed the meeting yet again. Sorry about that.
14:16 <@dbcooper> Its so easy w/ this group.
14:16 < rysan> it was a worthy derail.
14:16 < hamez> yeah, I thought this format was supposed to prevent that
14:16 <@dbcooper> Ok. So maybe a group lunch or party at Chuck E. Cheeses or something later on.
14:17 < rysan> LOL
14:17 < hamez> a derail in honor of rysan's birthday
14:17 < rysan> that would be slightly epic, I'm 22 and it'd be my first Chuck E. Cheeses birthday
14:17 <@dbcooper> Only if we eat pizza somewhere else before going there. Their pizza is utter crap.
14:17 < cashcraft> Chuck E. CHeese it is then
14:17 <@dbcooper> Maybe Gatty-town (sp?)
14:18 < cashcraft> actually that place owns
14:18 < hamez> you've never dove in to the plastic balls?
14:18 < rysan> dbcooper: I don't doubt it....we could always just go to Gatty Town
14:18 <@dbcooper> Don't do it! There's pee in the bottom of the ball bin!
14:18 < hamez> some time you can find a poop in there
14:18 < rysan> hamez: my hometown doesn't have a chuck e cheeese
14:18 * rysan lol's
14:18 <@dbcooper> The ball pit should carry a warning sign or two about human waste products.
14:19 < rysan> in all seriousness, if we do do something, lets just go eat lunch one day this week. Doesn't even have to be pizza...we could just get mexican food or something
14:19 < hamez> how about tomorrow?
14:19 <@dbcooper> http://www.gattispizza.com/location/corpuschristi/contact
14:19 < rysan> that'd be fine, I'll be here
14:20 < cashcraft> sounds good to me as well
14:20 < rysan> gatty-town is fun, I've been there. Kinda wish we had a main event
14:20 <@dbcooper> rysan: Don't sell out for an excuse to take a group trip to Gattitown.
14:20 <@dbcooper> We can pitch in and buy rysan's lunch and give him $2.00 in tokens. :)
14:20 < rysan> LOL
14:20 < cashcraft> yeah I agree with dbcooper, Gattitown will be lots of fun :)
14:21 < rysan> woooo hoo, I'm gonna ride the merry-go-round one more time
14:21 < rysan> I challenge you all to ski-ball, though.
14:21 < cashcraft> I want to play the star wars game.. I'll be honest =/

14:22 < rysan> when I was 7, we went to Discovery Zone in Lubbock...and i went down the slide and a fat kid came down and landed on top of me
14:22 < rysan> it fractured my arm in 2 places
14:22 < rysan> had to go to the emergency room
14:23 < rysan> anywho- if there's no more business I move to adjurn?
14:23 < rysan> adjourn*
14:24 < PerlJam> we've effectively already done so :)
14:24 < rysan> its nice to be official

13:52 <@PerlJam> And they'll let us participate in the hurricane traning exercises and such. Still need to work that out a bit
13:52 <@PerlJam> Also, the city may purchase the hardware for us.
13:52 <@PerlJam> All in all, things went well I think because Angel Escobar said "make it so"
13:53 <@PerlJam> for those that don't know, we're putting in a proposal to get $10-15 million for a new building
13:54 <@PerlJam> We're also going to be putting in for grant money to do some more research and improve facilities for doing so. Don't know how that's going to impact IT yet.
13:55 <@PerlJam> END-OF-LINE.
13:56 <@PerlJam> Anyone got anything else they want to discuss?
13:57 <@PerlJam> going once
13:57 <@dbcooper> Hmm. Well, monarch.cbi.tamucc.edu (voiceinfo) lost its DHCP lease ~6/3/2009. Found out today when Corpus Christi Pilots called reporting CC RTNS was down.
13:57 <@PerlJam> lost its lease and didn't get a new one?
13:58 <@dbcooper> It was unable to renew its lease at that time and eventually gave up. I just did a "ifconfig eth0 up" today and it was able to renew and get on the network again.
13:59 <@dbcooper> This may have something to do w/ the DHCP issues I previously noted w/ meridian. It worked today, though, so I'm not certain. Anyway, its something we might want to watch for.
13:59 -!- jrod_361 [n=josh@24-116-105-160.cpe.cableone.net] has left #dnr-is []
14:00 <@dbcooper> PerlJam: Wasn't there some issue w/ the network switch that the "old rack" is connected to? You had to cycle the power on it to get cbidl to send its data to lighthouse?
14:00 <@dbcooper> Well, at least that's something. Buy a new 1GHz switch and replace the old rack switch w/ it.
14:01 <@PerlJam> dbcooper: yeah, the switch got itself in a weird state and needed a power cycle.
14:02 <@PerlJam> replacing the switch sounds like a good idea to me.
14:03 <@dbcooper> I already had it on the "IT shopping list" taped to our door, but I guess we haven't gone to Altex recently or I didn't remember to ask Hamez to buy one when he was there.
14:03 <@PerlJam> do you remember how to limit the size of an image in pmwiki markup?
14:04 <@dbcooper> PerlJam: Are you asking me? If so, are you referring to display image dimensions (x,y)?
14:05 <@PerlJam> dbcooper: aye and aye
14:06 <@dbcooper> Is it an add-on or is it built into pmwiki?
14:06 <@PerlJam> I don't remember.

14:08 <@PerlJam> thanks

14:02 < cashcraft> 5. What do you plan to work on this week?
14:03 < cashcraft> ---This week I will be, hopefully, finishing up with ncep-pntFileGen
14:03 < cashcraft> 6. Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
14:03 < cashcraft> ---Not that I am aware of
14:03 < cashcraft> -----End Transmission-----
14:03 <@PerlJam> cbrown5: go
14:03 < cbrown5> 1. about 30 hours
14:03 < cbrown5> 2. worked on AverageHits, and started backups of goliath and rapture
14:03 < cbrown5> 3. no
14:03 < cbrown5> 4. Not that I can think of
14:03 < cbrown5> 5. AverageHits, finish backups of rapture and whatever else comes up
14:03 < cbrown5> 6. No
14:03 < cbrown5> End
14:03 <@PerlJam> rysan: go
14:03 < rysan> 1. 30-40
14:03 < rysan> 2. A fair bit. The majority of the work I did was based around fixing pwlspike.pm by using the test script spikes.t I wrote.
14:03 < rysan> 3. Yes, sort of. I've come across a small complication (which I think Scott and I touched on before) with the way my code is detecting the spike edges. I've kind of thought of a few ways to approach this, but I think I need to talk things over with Scott and get some more ideas/feedback.
14:03 < rysan> 4. Yes, with Scott. Probably Tuesday or Wednesday would be best.
14:03 < rysan> 5. I plan to continue debugging and making sure pwlspike.pm passes the 8 tests I've laid out in spikes.t
14:03 < rysan> 6. Not really.
14:04 < rysan> =======System Shutdown=========
14:04 <@PerlJam> Anyone seen jrod?
14:04 <@PerlJam> Anyone seen hamez?
14:05 < rysan> not I
14:05 < cashcraft> jrod was not in class this morning
14:05 <@PerlJam> Hmm. okay.
14:05 <@PerlJam> dbcooper: go
14:06 <@dbcooper> 1. How many hours can you work this week?
14:06 <@dbcooper> A: N/A
14:06 <@dbcooper> 2. What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
14:06 <@dbcooper> A: ADCP bins at Buoy stations. LDAP investigation and network tap sniffing. NR
14:06 <@dbcooper> C 3414 thermostat/temperature issues. WRF-NAM stuff w/ Roberto. System adminis
14:06 <@dbcooper> tration-y tasks.
14:06 <@dbcooper> 3. Did you run into anything that's stopping you from making progress?
14:06 <@dbcooper> A: Insufficient familiarity w/ MooseX?
14:06 <@dbcooper> 4. Do you need some face time with one of IT3D? (or if you are IT3D, do you need any face time with a student?)
14:06 <@dbcooper> A: JD and Scott, probably.
14:06 <@dbcooper> 5. What do you plan to work on this week?
14:06 <@dbcooper> A: Automatic data downloads from Xperts.
14:06 <@dbcooper> 6. Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
14:06 <@dbcooper> A: Chris will be here tomorrow morning (9AM-1PM). I think we should have another lightning talk session soon. Friday, July 3rd is a school-wide holiday.
14:06 <@dbcooper> EOL
14:07 <@PerlJam> PerlJam: go.
14:07 <@PerlJam> 1. NA
14:08 <@PerlJam> 2. some progress. talked to people that needed talking to, sent email, got very little coding done
14:08 <@PerlJam> 3. no
14:08 <@PerlJam> 4. always
14:08 <@PerlJam> 5. same as last week (try to take over the world!)
14:09 <@PerlJam> 6. In the manager's meeting today we talking about redoing the lighthouse.tamucc.edu website and hiring someone to do it.
14:09 * rysan starts singing the Pinky and the Brain song
14:09 <@PerlJam> We may need another student for this, so if anyone knows of any smart people that would like to work here.
14:09 <@PerlJam> ....
14:09 <@PerlJam> END OF LINE
14:10 <@PerlJam> anything else?
14:10 < rysan> not from me
14:10 < cbrown5> cant think of anything
14:11 <@PerlJam> I've got one thing and if there's nothing else, we can call it done.
14:11 <@dbcooper> PC shopping? James and I discussed this last week.
14:12 <@dbcooper> We need a PC for the new accountant-type person (not hired yet), a replacement TWDB PC and EOC PC. We discussed "upgrading" a user and using their old PC for EOC but we felt it is better to buy a new one for TWDB (distance, access).
14:13 <@dbcooper> We discussed using the end-of-fiscal-year funds for the equipment. That's why I brought it up. I don't know the deadline.
14:14 <@PerlJam> Hmm. We may need to buy one for the EOC too. We were going to just get one from the city, but their Director of MIS hasn't gotten back with me yet.
14:15 * rysan listens for the banging of the gavel
14:15 <@PerlJam> anyway, we'll need to check the availability of funds. I think the limit we have to worry about is the $5K one and that's well into July last time I checked.
14:16 <@PerlJam> rysan: not yet, I haven't said my final item ... Everybody pay attention!
14:16 * rysan patiently awaits
14:16 <@PerlJam> Next week, this meeting WILL BE ON TIME! :-)
14:16 <@PerlJam> okay ...
14:16 < cashcraft> I'll believe it when I see it :P
14:16 * PerlJam raps the gavel 3 times and calls it done
14:16 < rysan> QFT @cashcraft
14:16 < rysan> Wunderbar! Lunch time :)
