15:36 < PerlJam> hear ye! hear ye! this meeting is now come to order!
15:36 * PerlJam raps the gavel on the channel ... *bang* *bang* *bang*
15:37 < PerlJam> where are cody and josh?
15:37 < PerlJam> (has anyone seen cody lately?)
15:37 < rysan> nope
15:38 < cashcraft> I have not, but I haven't been around much lately
15:38 < rysan> yeah neither have I really this week
15:40 < PerlJam> as long as it's not swine flu :-)
15:40 < rysan> yeah how is your family handling the shutdown of the schools?
15:40 < rysan> a lot of people are having trouble finding babysitters or daycares lately it seems
15:40 < hamez> they are in Calallen, which I beleiev is still open
15:41 < rysan> ah, i see
15:41 < PerlJam> yep, Calallen is open,
15:41 < rysan> i wish they'd shutdown the campus :P
15:41 < PerlJam> Tuloso midway, flour bluff, gregory portland, etc.
15:41 < rysan> I'd rather not taking my finals
15:42 < dbcooper> PerlJam: Cody is unable to attend today due to school work. I spoke w/ him yesterday.
15:42 < PerlJam> okei
15:42 < PerlJam> Well, let's go in order of the names on the template again ....
15:43 < PerlJam> cashcraft?

15:43 < PerlJam> rysan?
15:43 < rysan> >>>>>>>>>BEGIN REDWARDS<<<<<<<<<
15:43 < rysan> 1. How many hours can you work this week? (this one is really only for the students)
15:43 < rysan> ==> 10~. Sadly this is a bad week for me. The good news is I can make up the hours
15:43 < rysan> ==> of which I am deficit in after finals are over.
15:43 < rysan> 2. What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
15:43 < rysan> ==> Not much at all. I didn't even get to meet with Scott last week or do any
15:43 < rysan> ==> real progress. I made a few adjustments and played with testing some more though
15:43 < rysan> 3. Did you run into anything that's stopping you from making progress?
15:43 < rysan> ==> School? Term Papers? End of Semester Projects? Sleep? Yeah that's it.
15:43 < rysan> 4. Do you need some face time with one of IT3D?
15:43 < rysan> ==> Not at the moment, but it'll come up when I'm back in action full swing
15:43 < rysan> 5. Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
15:43 < rysan> ==> I'm overloaded severely right now, but school's almost over...and next semester
15:43 < rysan> ==> I have less obligations. So hopefully everything will be better soon.

15:46 < hamez> sleep 30;
15:46 < dbcooper> 1. n/a
15:46 < dbcooper> 2. Not enough progress on DIM paper. :\
15:46 < dbcooper> 3. Perfectionism?
15:46 < dbcooper> 4. I should get enough face time this week.
15:46 < dbcooper> 5. Still working on DIM paper. Going to work on lfredl w/ James for rest of today. NOS document tracking this week.
15:46 < dbcooper> EOL

15:48 < PerlJam> EOR
15:48 < PerlJam> Well, I guess there's still some old business on the table too ...
15:49 < PerlJam> rysan: did you get some email regarding the DIM paper?
15:49 < dbcooper> Lab cleanup
15:49 < PerlJam> hamez: How's your DIM paper?
15:49 < rysan> PerlJam: no?
15:49 < PerlJam> btw, we all suck for taking so long to write 4 measley pages :)
15:49 < hamez> see Scott & Niall's #2
15:50 < dbcooper> s/suck/suck at writing/
15:51 < hamez> no wonder I started my thesis proposal a year and a half ago and still haven't really gotten anywhere
15:51 < hamez> but I git a real good feeling about this summer :)
15:51 < hamez> s/git/got/
15:52 < cashcraft> this summer is going to be good for everyone, i can feel it as well

15:52 < hamez> feliz cinco de mayo tambien

15:56 * hamez tasers PerlJam
15:56 * cashcraft waves to all
15:56 < dbcooper> cashcraft: later
15:56 -!- cashcraft [n=chase@24.175.180.237] has quit ["Leaving."]
15:56 < hamez> don't tase me bro!
15:56 < dbcooper> Ok. We need to pick a date for lab cleanup. Suggestions?
15:57 < dbcooper> Or date(s)
15:57 < rysan> After may 14th.
15:58 < rysan> in fact, everything you want to do that involves me or chase would be best scheduled for after may 14th.
15:58 < rysan> that probably goes for cody and josh too, but I dunno.
15:58 < dbcooper> Since the DIM conference is 5/15-5/16, then definitely not that Friday either.
15:58 < dbcooper> Tuesday 5/19?
15:58 < rysan> dbcooper: I'll wear my doo-rag and tennis shoes.
15:59 < dbcooper> Ok. Don't forget your boom box.
16:00 < dbcooper> PerlJam: Any problem w/ lab cleanup day on 5/19?
16:02 < dbcooper> Timeout. I hereby declare Tuesday, 5/19, 10AM-4PM lab cleanup and group lunch party.
16:08 < dbcooper> I move to close this meeting.
16:08 < rysan> I second the motion.
16:08 < dbcooper> All in favor?

13:30 -!- padawan-chase is now known as cashcraft
13:46 < dbcooper> cbrown5: Eh?
13:46 < cbrown5> have we changed the time of the meeting?
13:49 < PerlJam> theoretically we're meeting now
13:49 < cbrown5> well its efficient
13:50 < cbrown5> Just kidding
13:51 < PerlJam> Where's rysan and jrod?
13:53 -!- rysan [n=ryan@cpe-24-167-94-66.stx.res.rr.com] has joined #dnr-is
13:54 < rysan> sorry, I lost track of time. Has the meeting started?
13:54 < PerlJam> we were waiting for you
13:54 < rysan> bah, someone should have called :(
13:54 < PerlJam> (yeah, that's the ticket ... we were waiting for you ;-)
13:54 < rysan> I got lost in my paper
13:55 < PerlJam> anyone seen jrod?
13:56 < cashcraft> i saw him yesterday, but he might have stayed up all night working on our project
13:56 < cbrown5> make him do the work
13:57 < PerlJam> okay, lets go without him then.
13:57 < cashcraft> haha nah he just put his part off until the last minute :P
13:57 < cbrown5> sounds like me
13:57 < PerlJam> as usual, we'll go in the order listed on the Template page.
13:58 < PerlJam> cashcraft: you're up
13:58 < rysan> @cashcraft and you didn't? :P
14:00 < cashcraft> 1) 15
14:00 < cashcraft> 2) Wasn't in last week due to projects for school
14:00 < cashcraft> 3) Procrastination
14:00 < cashcraft> 4) Not yet
14:00 < cashcraft> 5) Olivia's going away party on Thursday at 2 (I think) I'll send an email to the listserv later
14:00 < cbrown5> hey and where talking about dnr-is topic how ironic
14:01 < PerlJam> cbrown5: you're next. What are you answers for the questions on http://lighthouse.tamucc.edu/DNRNotes/ITMeetingTemplate ?
14:01 < cbrown5> 1. I plan on being here 15+ hours
14:01 < cbrown5> 2. I have been working on/finished my programing assignment Average Hits
14:01 < cbrown5> 3. I am waiting for a code review to see if I am indeed finished or if more work is needed on it
14:01 < cbrown5> 4. I need schedule a code review prferably thursday when I will be done with Finals
14:03 < PerlJam> cbrown5: and #5?
14:03 < cbrown5> no new bussiness
14:03 < PerlJam> okay ... James D. is on Vacation
14:04 < PerlJam> and Niall apparently has a locked machine. I'll wait a bit for him to get going.
14:04 < rysan> and I am exempt?
14:05 < PerlJam> oh! sorry. Brainfart
14:05 < rysan> or just overwhelmed?
14:05 < PerlJam> rysan: you're up
14:05 < rysan> 1. 15-20 But after this week back to full time + makeup hours
14:05 < rysan> 2. Not much...Finals and projects are draining my time.
14:05 < rysan> 3. Finals? Projects? Professors who like 15+ page term papers?
14:05 < rysan> 4. Yes, if I'm going to present this work soon, I need some serious time with Scott.
14:05 < rysan> 5. Its almost over....
14:05 < rysan> ----------Transmission Terminated--------------
14:08 < PerlJam> Well, I'll go while we wait on Niall
14:08 < PerlJam> 2. very littel
14:08 < PerlJam> 3. just myself
14:09 < PerlJam> 4. I always need face time with IT3D
14:09 < PerlJam> 5. I'm going to be on vacation Thurs, Fri and the following Monday
14:09 < rysan> PerlJam: this thurs/fri?
14:09 < PerlJam> (Cyndi is heading out of town to her brothers graduation from law school and *someone* needs to take care of the kids)
14:10 < PerlJam> rysan: yes. this thu and fri
14:10 < rysan> and what day is that presentation I'm to give?
14:10 < PerlJam> rysan: But I can meet with you at any time today, tomorrow or Wed.
14:10 < PerlJam> rysan: Sat at 1:00 I think
14:10 < rysan> oh its Saturday..ok
14:11 < rysan> I probably won't be in at all today tomorrow or Wed...I've got this parser and simulation report to finish and then I have 2 finals tomorrow and 1 on wednesday
14:11 < rysan> so I guess I'm on my own to finish thurs and friday and prepare for saturday :/
14:11 < PerlJam> rysan: nope. I'll work on it and we can keep in touch via email/IRC
14:11 < rysan> ok
14:12 < PerlJam> rysan: It should just be a 15 minute presentation, so there shouldn't be much to prepare for.
14:12 < rysan> ok, that's encouraging them
14:12 < rysan> then*
14:13 < PerlJam> Give a little background about CBI and collecting water level data and how important it all is, then show the spike removal tool.
14:13 < PerlJam> (which *shall* be working before Sat.)
14:13 < PerlJam> cashcraft: if you see josh, I need to talk to him about working this summer.
14:14 < cashcraft> i'm supposed to meet with him later tonight for our project so i'll tell him to email you
14:14 < PerlJam> have him send me an email when he gets a chance (I have no idea what anyone's finals schedule is like and I don't want to muck with that, so no big deal if it's not until after then)
14:15 < PerlJam> dbcooper: ping!
14:15 < rysan> PerlJam: are there any stipulations or developments for working this summer for any of us?
14:15 < rysan> (any of us present)
14:16 < dbcooper> 1. How many hours can you work this week?
14:16 < dbcooper> A: N/A
14:16 < dbcooper> 2. What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
14:16 < dbcooper> A: I have been "working" on my system demonstration paper for the DIM conference. I made some progress on it, but I'm not done yet. Also worked on Nimble2 (Nimbler!) and lfredl data logger setup and troubleshoting . Also flattened and installed Ubuntu on my laptop since it was acting strangely.
14:16 < dbcooper> 3. Did you run into anything that's stopping you from making progress?
14:16 < dbcooper> A: Writer's block.
14:16 < dbcooper> 4. Do you need some face time with one of IT3D? (or if you are IT3D, do you need any face time with a student?)
14:16 < dbcooper> I will need collaboration time w/ James and Scott, whether in person or via e-mail. I've listed them as co-authors on the NNWL paper and want their input/feedback on parts/whole. I also discussed having a code review w/ Cody last week.
14:16 < dbcooper> 5. Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
14:16 < dbcooper> A: I will be attending/presenting at the DIM conference on Friday, so that day is toast. I'm on call this week and we're shorthanded so I assume I'll be occasionally pulled of task w/ troubleshooting/field support. Must... Finish... Paper...
14:16 < dbcooper> EOL
14:16 < PerlJam> no, not really. As far as I'm concerned, students are working with us until they come to me and say they don't want to anymore for whatever reason.
14:16 < dbcooper> w/ apologies for the delay.
14:17 < PerlJam> rysan, cbrown5, cashcraft: Good luck on your projects, finals, etc.
14:18 < rysan> thank you
14:18 < cbrown5> thanks
14:18 < cashcraft> thank you, I'll need it :P
14:18 < rysan> motion to end the meeting so my report/simulation can get the attention it needs?
14:18 < cbrown5> 2nd
14:18 < PerlJam> and if you have any questions about stuff that maybe we can answer, feel free to ask us (but don't ask too much or too hard :-)
14:19 < PerlJam> (for school)
14:19 < PerlJam> yeah, we can adjourn.
14:19 * PerlJam is laggy from the netherlands.
14:19 < rysan> thanks! have a great day folks.....coffee + paper here i come
14:19 -!- rysan [n=ryan@cpe-24-167-94-66.stx.res.rr.com] has left #dnr-is []

13:44 <@hamez> Ok, so everyone's done w/ finals now right?
13:44 <@hamez> Anyone heard from Josh, or is he pissed bc we stole his puter?
13:46 < cashcraft> Last I talked to Josh was Thursday, and he was joking around about the computer lol
13:46 < redwards> @hamez was that a FOTC reference?
13:46 < dbcooper> redwards: yes.
13:46 < redwards> @dbcooper for no reason other than to point at you.
13:46 <@hamez> si
13:47 * redwards sings Too many dicks on the dance floor!
13:47 <@hamez> lol
13:47 < redwards> that one and 'If you're into it' are my favorites
13:48 < dbcooper> redwards: Is that the "if that's what you're into" song? The video where they're sitting on a fountain/wall and singing to the girl?
13:49 <@hamez> dbcooper: yes
13:49 < dbcooper> Ok. So Josh is out ATM, yes?
13:50 < redwards> @dbcooper yeah
13:50 < cashcraft> dbcooper: correct, haven't heard from him since last week
13:51 < redwards> @dbcooper "how bout you, and two dudes, him you and stew, in the nude being lewd with two dudes and food"
13:51 <@hamez> Then on our next date
13:51 <@hamez> Well, you could bring your roommate
13:51 <@hamez> I don’t know if Stu is keen to
13:51 <@hamez> But if you want we could double-team you.
13:52 < redwards> "I'm the, Hiphopopotamus my lyrics are bottomles...uh..."
13:52 < dbcooper> It is confirmed. Thank you all.
13:53 < redwards> so, I was talking to 'Scott' on here for like an hour this morning before I realized he's on vacation today
13:53 <@hamez> weekly report time!
13:53 <@hamez> he might be listening, you never know...
13:54 <@hamez> ok, cashcraft?

13:56 < cashcraft> 20-25 hours

13:57 < cbrown5> 1. I will most likely be here 40 hours for the week
13:57 < cbrown5> 2. I had to restart the backup for rapture due to an error and it is still going,
13:57 < cbrown5> I also spent some more time on my program looking things over and fixing a bug or two I noticed.
13:57 < cbrown5> 3. The error during backup suprised me I was going to work on rapture till that happened.
13:57 < cbrown5> 4. I still need to sechdule a code review for my program

13:57 < cbrown5> END of REPORT
13:58 <@hamez> thanks
13:58 <@hamez> redwards?
13:59 < redwards> /*****************************START*********************************
13:59 < redwards> 1. ==> 25-30~
13:59 < redwards> 2. ==> Well I gave the presentation Saturday. Seemed to go OK.
13:59 < redwards> 3. ==> I am my own worst enemy! That, and school+finals hindered me
13:59 < redwards> some. Also lack of sleep. I'm good now though.
13:59 < redwards> 4. ==> Yes, Scott.
13:59 < redwards> 5. ==> Yep, I'd like to talk about working this summer, especially
13:59 < redwards> in July since I can work much more than 20 hours a week, what do I
13:59 < redwards> need to do, is it even possible for me to work more, etc. For the
13:59 < redwards> next couple of weeks I'm going to try and make us some hours I
13:59 < redwards> missed the finals weeks, but after that I'd like to get going on
13:59 < redwards> working a little more if possible and if its in the budget.
13:59 < redwards> *******************************END**********************************/\
14:00 <@hamez> I believe it is possible as long as there is money for it, we'll check in to it
14:00 <@hamez> Josh?
14:00 < dbcooper> hamez: Isn't Josh out?
14:00 <@hamez> yep, just checking
14:01 <@hamez> hamez?
14:01 <@hamez> 2. Finished my paper and presentation for the DIM
14:01 <@hamez> 3. Being on vacation
14:01 <@hamez> 4. Yes please
14:01 <@hamez> 5. nope, don't think so
14:01 <@hamez> ^D
14:02 <@hamez> thanks hamez
14:02 <@hamez> dbcooper?
14:02 < dbcooper> 1. How many hours can you work this week?
14:02 < dbcooper> A: N/A
14:02 < dbcooper> 2. What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
14:02 < dbcooper> A: DIM conference completed. James, Philippe, Ryan gave good presentations at the conference. Had some interest in DNR
14:02 < dbcooper> stuff, good times. Final edits on paper, verifying, blah, blah, blah.
14:02 < dbcooper> 3. Did you run into anything that's stopping you from making progress?
14:02 < dbcooper> A: Poor impulse control. The Loveline archive/stream <http://loveline.phil21.net/>. Earlier (random stream) they had "Macho Man" Randy Savage (the "Snap into a Slim Jim!" guy) on. He was promoting his new album. It was... Quite interesting.
14:02 < dbcooper> 4. Do you need some face time with one of IT3D? (or if you are IT3D, do you need any face time with a student?)
14:02 < dbcooper> A: I discussed having a code review w/ Cody last week.
14:02 < dbcooper> 5. Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
14:02 < dbcooper> A: Cleaning day/lunch party tomorrow (Tue. 5/19)! We will be cleaning the lab NRC 3414 so that it is ready for Philippe and
14:02 < dbcooper> his students to use. Talked to folks from Florida State University at DIM on Saturday. They have a very mature/thorough
14:02 < dbcooper> QC process. I believe we should have a thorough understanding of their process before we run off and try to
14:02 < dbcooper> improve/implement our own.
14:02 < dbcooper> EOL
14:04 <@hamez> PerlJam?
14:04 * dbcooper starts timeout counter.
14:06 < redwards> tick...tock....tick...
14:06 * cashcraft timeout counter reaching critical...
14:07 * redwards hates his wireless mouse cause it has a terribad connection most of the time
14:07 < cbrown5> get bluetooth
14:09 < redwards> I don't think bluetooth receiver+mouse is in the budget for my work computer.
14:09 < dbcooper> Timeout waiting for PerlJam.
14:10 < redwards> did anyone happen to read my number 5?
14:10 < cbrown5> well you could just go wired then
14:10 < cbrown5> if you hate it that much
14:10 < redwards> yeah don't have a good wired mouse laying around though, just those cheap dell ones
14:11 < dbcooper> redwards: Didn't Gina e-mail you about working over 20 hours/week?
14:11 <@hamez> redwards: I responded to it
14:11 < dbcooper> Err, n/m. That was Cody.
14:12 < redwards> lol, I was like...I didn't see anything
14:12 < cashcraft> yeah... Ryan, we're gonna need you to go ahead and come in on Saturday... yeah...
14:12 < redwards> @hamez i see that now, thanks
14:12 < redwards> but, but, my stapler...
14:13 < dbcooper> redwards: Will you be taking classes this summer?
14:13 < redwards> @dbcooper june 1st - july 2nd i think
14:13 < redwards> just 1 class
14:13 < dbcooper> So you won't be in class during (most of) July?
14:13 < redwards> right
14:18 < cbrown5> O so everyone knows windows 7 is free right now if anyone wants to give it a try
14:18 < cbrown5> looks good ha
14:18 < dbcooper> I don't have a computer it will run on.
14:18 < redwards> it'll run on most computers Vista wouldn't
14:18 < redwards> btw.
14:19 < cbrown5> supposed to be significantly faster too
14:21 < dbcooper> Yeah, I still think I'd need a new computer.
14:24 < dbcooper> Anyway, anything else to cover this meeting? Ryan has a question about 40 hours/week, schedule code review w/ Cody, cleaning party tomorrow. Anything else?
14:25 < redwards> dbcooper: Scott at one time mentioned it'd probably be 30 hours a week, but i'll take anything over 20
14:25 < redwards> (including 40)
14:25 < dbcooper> I can't speak to that other than we'll need to consult w/ Gina if Scott hasn't already.
14:26 < cashcraft> lab cleaning party starts at 10 tomorrow still?
14:27 < dbcooper> AFAIK
14:28 < cashcraft> sounds good
14:28 < dbcooper> Is there any other business to bring before the group? Anyonoe?
14:28 < dbcooper> *Anyone
14:30 < redwards> not here
14:30 < cbrown5> I'm free whenever for code review
14:33 < redwards> restarting my comp for updates

13:37 -!- jrod_361 [n=josh@24-116-105-160.cpe.cableone.net] has joined #dnr-is
13:38 <@dbcooper> Anyone seen Cody?
13:38 <@dbcooper> cashcraft: Is Cody up there?
13:38 < cashcraft> dbcooper: not that I've seen, he's not at his desk
13:39 -!- dbcooper changed the topic of #dnr-is to: When does the 1:30PM meeting start?
13:40 < redwards1> soon? lol
13:42 <@dbcooper> http://lighthouse.tamucc.edu/DNRNotes/ITMeetingTemplate
13:42 <@dbcooper> Hear ye, hear ye. All hands at attention, or something.
13:42 <@PerlJam> well, if we're all here, let's go!
13:42 <@PerlJam> (thanks Niall)
13:42 <@dbcooper> cashcraft: You're up.
13:44 <@dbcooper> Chase?
13:45 <@dbcooper> Okay, we'll skip Chase for the moment.
13:45 < cashcraft> 1. How many hours can you work this week? (this one is really only for the students)
13:45 < cashcraft> 20 hrs.
13:45 < cashcraft> 2. What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
13:45 < cashcraft> Successfully cleaned up the lab and installed white boards in the new student office. Began setting up external tape drive to work on my machine (in progress).
13:45 < cashcraft> 3. Did you run into anything that's stopping you from making progress?
13:45 < cashcraft> No barriers at this point.
13:45 < cashcraft> 4. Do you need some face time with one of IT3D? (or if you are IT3D, do you need any face time with a student?)
13:45 < cashcraft> Need to meet with someone to discuss the tape drive task in a little more detail. Anytime this week is good for me except Friday afternoon.
13:45 < cashcraft> 5. Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
13:45 < cashcraft> Summer classes start next week but my hours should remain about the same.
13:45 < cashcraft> -----EOR-----
13:45 <@dbcooper> Spoke too soon. Thanks, Chase.
13:46 <@dbcooper> Cody is not around, so we skip forward to Ryan who is on vacation. Thanks for attending, Ryan. Anything to contribute?
13:46 < redwards1> 1. 5~? I'm in Plainview.
13:46 < redwards1> 2. Well, we got new whiteboards installed in the coder's den. We also got the electronics lab cleaned up quite nicely. Oh, and we helped Sara move some stuff. I also started playing with bad values for the spike detection stuff.
13:46 < redwards1> 3. Everything that we did that was not spike stuff.
13:46 < redwards1> 4. Yeah. Really need to get going on a master's project.
13:46 < redwards1> 5. Not really. I'll be back in town next week. Also classes start the 1st.
13:46 < redwards1> --------------_END_--------------
13:47 <@dbcooper> Josh?
13:47 < jrod_361> ----How many hours can you work this week?
13:47 < jrod_361> 40
13:47 < jrod_361> -----What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
13:47 < jrod_361> Cleaned Lab, Set-up Ginas Monitors,
13:47 < jrod_361> -----Did you run into anything that's stopping you from making progress?
13:47 < jrod_361> Verification from Doug on address, but got it! will send off tomorrow
13:47 < jrod_361> ----Do you need some face time with one of IT3D? (or if you are IT3D, do you need any face time with a student?)
13:47 < jrod_361> Nope
13:47 < jrod_361> ----- Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
13:47 < jrod_361> Nope
13:47 < jrod_361> OOPs forgot to email Naill about ordering 2003 server for ArcServer
13:48 <@dbcooper> jrod_361: Assuming you're finished. I started on that today. I e-mailed Christina Gonzalez about it. We can proceed once she gets back to me.
13:49 < jrod_361> okie dokie, Thanks!
13:49 <@dbcooper> hamez: Your turn.
13:49 <@hamez> data
13:49 <@hamez> 2. Continued to develop Nimble
13:49 <@hamez> 3. Lots of interruptions from being on call
13:49 <@hamez> 4. Would like to show students how to use git and introduce them to Cataylst
13:49 <@hamez> 5. I am planning on going to a conference in Mexico at the end of June. I'll be gone a little over a week. I am planning on presenting and will need some time this week to write an abstract.
13:49 <@hamez> Also, my dog got out last night and I haven't been able to find her. If she doesn't turn up soon, I'll need to go to the pound to see if she got picked up. Apparently they won't tell you over the phone. This is why I'm not in the office right now.
13:49 <@hamez> .
13:49 <@dbcooper> hamez: Sorry to hear about that. She was out when I arrived on Sunday, but I put her back in the yard.
13:50 <@hamez> yeah, I unhooked the electric fence when I put up the new gate. looks like she figured that out
13:50 <@PerlJam> hamez: maybe your neighbor got tired of her barking and let her out on purpose ;>
13:51 <@dbcooper> 1. How many hours can you work this week?
13:51 <@dbcooper> A: N/A
13:51 <@dbcooper> 2. What progress have you made on what you were working on last week?
13:51 <@dbcooper> A: Cleaned up NRC 3414 lab w/ students. Code review w/ Cody and James. DHCP weirdness investigation (issue not resolved). Cyber Defense student meeting. Nimble meeting w/ Scott and James.
13:51 <@dbcooper> 3. Did you run into anything that's stopping you from making progress?
13:51 <@dbcooper> A: Nothing unusual.
13:51 <@dbcooper> 4. Do you need some face time with one of IT3D? (or if you are IT3D, do you need any face time with a student?)
13:51 <@dbcooper> A: I assume I'll be busy showing Chris (Cyber Defense team) around DNR/CBI tomorrow (5/27) morning.
13:51 <@dbcooper> 5. Is there anything else that we should be aware of? Any new business?
13:51 <@dbcooper> A: Blucher improvement meeting on Thursday AM, Chris on Wednesday AM. Both will impact my productivity.
13:51 <@dbcooper> EOL
13:51 < redwards1> @hamez I'm also sorry to hear that..I hope you find her
13:51 <@dbcooper> PerlJam: Your turn.
13:52 <@PerlJam> 2. meeting with Niall/James, hacking on the new and improved Nimble and research on Catalyst, Markdown, jquery, etc.
13:52 <@PerlJam> 3. no.
13:52 <@PerlJam> 4. Ryan and I probably need some face time, but that can wait until he's actually here :)
13:53 <@PerlJam> 5. what Niall said.
13:53 <@PerlJam> oh, and I have training for most of Friday
13:53 <@dbcooper> hamez: We moved the IT planning meeting to Thursday afternoon b/c of Scott's training day.
13:53 < redwards1> @PerlJam: from what they are telling me on the phone I may be there a lot more during june than expected :(
13:54 <@PerlJam> redwards1: what do you mean?
13:54 < redwards1> PerlJam: may not be able to take my summer school class
13:56 <@PerlJam> por que no?
13:57 <@dbcooper> Ok. Chase had a question about the tape drive, but I don't see any other questions. Did I miss any?
13:58 < jrod_361> Im good!
13:58 < redwards1> PerlJam: they can't remove my hold till my GRE scores are in
13:58 < redwards1> and they don't estimate that's till June 4th
13:59 < redwards1> which is stupid, since they can't refuse you based on your GRE scores
13:59 < redwards1> its just formality
13:59 <@PerlJam> jrod_361: btw, your primary mission is to get the arc server box in shape so that Deidre and Daniel Longmatey can use it. Anything you need from us to make that happen, make sure you let us know sooner rather than later.
14:00 < jrod_361> PerlJam: I already requested 2003 from Naill...just waiting on that to get on it!
14:00 <@PerlJam> redwards1: take to Fernandez and/or dean Pezold about it and see if one of them won't remove the hold for you :)
14:00 <@PerlJam> jrod_361: sure thing.
14:02 <@PerlJam> s/take/talk/ even
14:02 * PerlJam should read what he writes sometiems.
14:02 <@PerlJam> s/em/me/
14:02 < cashcraft> IT3D: who would be the best person to meet with about this tape back up task (the overall goal of it), and when would be a good time for that person to meet with me?
14:02 <@dbcooper> cashcraft: There's not much open time in my schedule this week and the student work schedule isn't appearing for this week (no entries).
14:03 < redwards1> dbcooper: most likely cause we only did till may 5th
14:03 < cashcraft> dbcooper: if you would like to wait until a later date that is fine with me, I can find something else to work on in the mean time
14:03 <@dbcooper> redwards1: That makes sense.
14:03 <@dbcooper> cashcraft: How late are you working till today?
14:04 < cashcraft> dbcooper: probably until 4 or 5
14:04 < cashcraft> dbcooper: if you would like for me to stay later I can
14:05 <@dbcooper> Also, Chris (I think) from the Cyber Defense group is going to be working with us (~4 hours a week?) starting tomorrow.
14:06 <@dbcooper> cashcraft: Stay tuned for administrative download.
14:06 <@PerlJam> cashcraft: I don't think we've finished up with ncep-get, have we?
14:06 <@PerlJam> cashcraft: it would be best to finish that off and "put it to bed" so to speak. I think.
14:07 < cashcraft> that is also fine, I was looking at the ncep-degribit script earlier last week
14:08 < cashcraft> which is the next step in the ncep scripts
14:08 <@PerlJam> cashcraft: wrt, tape backup task ... are you guys talking about recovering the data from the old backup tapes so that we can chunk them? If so, that's not a high priority at all, but it's something that could be done if there's nothing else to do (and it lets us get rid of all those old tapes, hooray!)
14:08 <@dbcooper> *degribbit
14:08 < redwards1> ribbit?
14:09 <@dbcooper> PerlJam: Virtualized server is a higher priority than tape backup archive stuff, yes?
14:09 <@PerlJam> dbcooper: oh yes! good idea there.
14:09 <@dbcooper> redwards1: Yes. That's what I'm aiming at.
14:09 < redwards1> dbcooper: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fms0Mk3ZFU8
14:10 < cashcraft> In that case I will set the tape drive stuff aside for a rainy day
14:10 <@dbcooper> Also, Philippe has been talking about a Mexican (as in University of Mexico or some school in Mexico City) PhD student coming to CBI/DNR/Philippe-land and requiring a "computer" to run Linux. Although I've asked questions, we haven't resolved whether the student is looking for a desktop or server.
14:12 <@dbcooper> He needs it to develop and/or run his wind models. An instance on the virtualized server may be useful if he's looking for a server to run his model. We give him a sandbox and he goes to town w/o us having to give him access to proto/lighthouse/etc.
14:12 <@PerlJam> dbcooper: do we know when the student will be here?
14:12 <@dbcooper> PerlJam: If Philippe told me I have already forgotten.
14:13 <@hamez> June 1st
14:13 <@dbcooper> I'm not too concerned about it ATM. I've told him I don't have enough information to make the desktop/server call. He's going to find out more and get back to me (AFAIK).
14:14 <@PerlJam> though, in the interests of being proactive, it would be nice to have the virtserver ready to go :)
14:14 <@dbcooper> PerlJam: We already have two servers we could host on it (harte and sextant).
14:14 <@hamez> it looks like the emails may have not gotten to ya'll bc they were sent to duff@tamucc.edu and ndurham@tamucc.edu
14:14 <@hamez> I will forward to dnr-is
14:16 <@dbcooper> Any business remaining to be discussed?
14:18 <@PerlJam> redwards1: getting Mr. Probst's models to work in a parallel environment might make a good master's project.
14:18 < redwards1> PerlJam: Probst?
14:18 <@PerlJam> redwards1: the guy from Mexico
14:18 <@PerlJam> (sorry)
14:18 < redwards1> oh
14:19 <@PerlJam> er, oops
14:19 < redwards1> that's worth looking into
14:19 <@PerlJam> wrong name even
14:19 <@PerlJam> The guy's name is Roberto Chavez
14:19 * PerlJam can't think one thing and type another apparently.
14:20 < redwards1> fair enough
14:21 < redwards1> motion to adjourn on the grounds that my mom's here to take me to overnight my application for my new apartment
14:21 <@PerlJam> anyway, they're going to be setting up an atmospheric model. If the model is amenable to decomposition into several independent components, it would be ripe for parallelization.
14:21 <@dbcooper> Ok. I move to close the meeting.
14:21 <@PerlJam> yeah, close it.
14:21 * dbcooper bangs the gavel.
14:21 <@dbcooper> Case closed!
14:22 <@dbcooper> Thanks, guys. HAND.
14:22 < redwards1> PerlJam: how is it implemented
14:22 < redwards1> dbcooper: you too
14:22 <@PerlJam> redwards1: we'd (you'd) need to look into that :)
14:22 < redwards1> lol, alrighty
14:23 < redwards1> well, I"m off. I'll be in an out on irc the rest of the week
14:23 < redwards1> may try to work some remotely
14:23 -!- redwards1 [n=redwards@c75-111-137-83.plaicmtc01.tx.dh.suddenlink.net] has left #dnr-is []
