Restored Shore and Habitat Educational Resource

Thank you for visiting the "Restored Shore and Habitat Educational Resource". Please feel free to explore this site but keep in mind that it is under active development and therefore some links and other features may be temporarily unavailable from time to time.

Restored Shore and Habitat Educational Resource in tandem with the Coastal Habitat Restoration GIS (CHRGIS) website provides information that will be accessible and understandable to the general public, community planners, resource managers, and K-12 students with teacher guidance (enhanced by several example applications). The information gathered and assimilated in this interactive environment will also provide an example of “research based” management of “alternative” forms of shoreline stabilization (combinations of soft and hard structures) that have been applied along the demonstration shoreline (University Beach). The database in combination with evaluation of the performance of the alternative beach will serve as an example of managed stabilization for other coastal communities that are located along developed estuarine shorelines of the Texas coast.
